This checklist has been developed by members of B3Africa Work Package 1, “Ethics and Legal Framework for the Storage, Analysis, and Sharing of Biobanking and Research Data”. It applies to a collaborative biobank research that involves personal data sharing and sample.
The checklist does not substitute the applicable law. It serves merely as a guide for researchers to account for key steps in a collaborative biobank research. In case of conflict between the checklist and applicable law, always apply the law.
The checklist focuses on collaborative research projects between Africa and EU//EU and Africa. However, it can be applied to other types of collaboration, for example, data transfer between different countries or regions.
